'98 'Niners win Super Bowl VIII 37-14 over '99 Indy

'98 'Niners win Super Bowl VIII Sunday 5/3/2009 12:45am EDT.

Stu Geller and the 1998 SF 49ers won the CFL's Super Bowl VII by a score of 37-14 over Ed Mikhli and his 1998 Indy Colts. The first half of the game was close, with Ed holding a 14-13 lead over Stu's crew. The second half was all about the 49ers who scored 23 unanswered points and shut out the vaunted Colt Offense.

Steve Young was the game's MVP going 26-31 for 393 yards and 4 TD's. Peyton Manning in contrast was only 17-35 for 232 yards, which was his season low. His 2 INT's were also a big factor in the game. Future HOF'er Jerry Rice had 8 grabs for 194 yards and 2 TD's.
The victory was Stu's first CFL championship in his second Super Bowl appearance. Ed Mikhli (SB VII Champ) is now 1-2 in CFL Championship play.

Congrats to all for a great season...and as the song says, "see you in September...".
